Activating Drone-Based Storytelling to Position the Los Rios Community College District as the Place for Students to Build Careers, Not Jobs

Los Rios Community College District, Enrollment Campaign

Background

Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) was looking for unique ideas to entice and inspire prospective students to consider one of their colleges’ programs. The positioning for this engagement is that LRCCD is where people get careers, not jobs. This is especially important to reach people who would benefit most from a sustainable career that uplifts them, their families, and their communities.

Approach

As part of a locally-targeted enrollment campaign, Los Rios had the opportunity to put on a drone show during the final game of the Sacramento’s Republic Football Club soccer season. The game was attended by over 11,000 fans, each getting to witness the marketing spectacle at the conclusion of the match.

Results

The 12-minute show featured 200 drones moving into 6+ formations set to music. The content included messaging about available programs, illustrations of students and graduation caps, and an encouragement to visit Los Rios’ website for more information.

Within two days of the drone show, the Los Rios website saw a 2.4% uptick in organic traffic.
