Building a healthcare system website designed for connection

Serving multiple priorities usually requires multiple strategies. However, when a rural health system serving Southeast Alaska needed to update their website to serve the growing needs of its communities, they needed to also drive three organizational goals: recruitment, patient acquisition, and organizational growth.

The Challenge

The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) needed a website for its network of hospitals and providers in Southeast Alaska. The website needed to support a breadth of features, including HIPAA-compliant forms, as well as help drive three key priories: employee recruitment, patient acquisition, and organizational growth.

These priorities served as the foundation of the site and acted as the driving force behind all decisions on the project.

Our approach

01.

Focus on recruitment.

Southeast Alaska has a reputation as a rugged and challenging place to live. This made recruiting new physicians, nurses and medical professionals to serve the growing communities in SEARHC’s service area a challenge. Creating a place on the site to drive potential recruits through targeted advertising campaigns, as well as an easy-to-find section for organic connection was key to driving this goal.

02.

Focus on patient acquisition.

SEARHC strives to be the leading healthcare provider for Southeast Alaska. Gaining new patients and engaging existing patient populations can be difficult as SEARHC communities are often small, tight-knit groups of individuals with sometimes limited access to technology. Ensuring the website allowed easy access and clear information for all service locations and audiences was essential.

03.

Focus on organizational growth.

SEARHC was in period of rapid growth, so their site design needed to support a significant increase in their locations, patients, services and medical professionals seamlessly. Due to this rapid growth, their site also needed to be adaptable to new features that may be added after site launch.
