We’re on the Ball for New Year’s!

by amanda3fold | December 30, 2008 | 6:45 pm     No Comments »

Looking for something to do to ring in the new year? You may be thinking your only party friends will be those moths living in your wallet! Have no fear, Sactown is here! There are two free outdoor events promising fun and frivolity this year.

In an effort to boost community morale and merry-making this season, downtown Sacramento businesses have come together to turn 10th & K into a New York City-style party spot for New Year’s Eve, including Sacramento’s first ever ball drop! As it turns out, Rancho Cordova’s own branch of Lighting Science has helped create the giant LED eye-candy that will be ceremoniously dropped in NYC this year. Lighting Science has developed a smaller version for Sacramento’s inaugural countdown. Entertainment will include performances by the cast of “Forever Plaid,” of the California Musical Theatre, several of downtown’s finest bars and restaurants will host late hours and a lightshow will usher the crowd to the midnight countdown. Even newly-elected Mayor Kevin Johnson will join the festivities as host!

In addition to the inaugural ball drop, there will be the annual fireworks display in Old Sac. This year, our skies will be lit by the same company that fired up the world for the Beijing Olympics’ fireworks display. The river front will be bustling with live music, scrumptious eats and street entertainment throughout the evening.

For Christmas and New Year’s in the tough economy, Sacramento has energized to create fun and free activities for the community. Along with the variety of regular performing arts on stage this season, we’ve been anything but boring! So this year, if you’re left wondering where to go for winter celebrations, put on your party shoes and head on down to Sactown!

3Fold takes on Sacramento’s Race for the Cure

by lesley3fold | December 22, 2008 | 11:41 am     1 Comment »

Every year, 3Fold takes on several pro-bono clients who do amazing work in the community but don’t have the funds to pay for agency services.

For 2009, we’ve already determined three pro-bono clients who will receive our expertise in the first two quarters of the year. We look forward to sharing more about all of them in the upcoming months but for now, we’ll announce just one.

Drumroll…. (okay, okay. The logo sort of gave this away…)

Join us on May 9, 2009 at Cal Expo for Susan G. Komen Sacramento’s Race for the Cure! We’ll be doing all sorts of fun public relations outreach in the upcoming months, as well as a strategic marketing campaign that we believe can raise more donations than ever before. Rumor has it that Gordon may even run the 5K! (Okay, I confess, I started that rumor myself just to put the pressure on. I’m thinking a 3Fold orange/green spandex suit would be perfect for the Living Legend himself.)

If you’re looking for a great way to support breast cancer funding and services in our region, consider being a participant in this year’s race. Komen Sacramento will soon post more details on their website. Official registration starts in just a few weeks!

Also, come to our blog in January for ways that your non-profit can apply for pro-bono services. We’ll be taking applications for the second two quarters of 2009.

The art of re-gifting

by lesley3fold | December 18, 2008 | 8:04 am     No Comments »

My friend Kristi gave me an amazing Cupcake book last weekend for Christmas. Sadly, (and this speaks to my obsession with cupcakes), I already had the book. What to do?!?! Re-gift of course!

Apparently today, December 18th, is National Re-Gifting day. I’m not sure who declared the day, but my suspicions are the super smart marketing executives for UPS. Why, you ask? This nifty gimmick of a website: UPS Regifter, allows people with too much time on their hands to view a gallery of “re-gifted” items that can be virutally sent to a friend. I chose Boss Lady Nectarine Lip Balm for Gordon, had it “wrapped” and then “delivered” by UPS. Seconds later, my gift appeared in his inbox, and I’ve now clinched favorite employee status.

Oh, the wonders of the internet and social marketing.

3Fold and Identic unite to bring Christmas to needy families

3Fold and Identic unite to bring Christmas to needy families

This month, Brad led our team’s Cause-of-the-Month which provided Christmas decorations to needy families in Oak Park. On top of everything else going on around here, Brad sacrificed time to organize this special event and even got volunteers from Capital Christian Center’scollege group, Identic, to help.  Thank you Brad, and all of those people who donated, for making this event so special!
